Construction of Bryan Municipal Utilities’ South Walnut/East South Street Water Main Improvement Project is tentatively slated to begin Monday, April 9.
The project area includes South Walnut Street from Maple to South streets and East South Street from Walnut Street to Meadowbrook Road. The project includes replacement of aging four- and eight-inch cast iron lines with eight-inch PVC water main, customer water service lines within the public right-of-way and seven fire hydrants.
The project contractor is Miller Contracting Group of Ottoville, Ohio. Miller Contracting plans to begin at Walnut and Maple streets and work south from that intersection. Work will occur within the public right-of-way. As a result, temporary traffic delays and lane and/or road closures are possible in the project area. Traffic control will be maintained during project work hours. Please use caution in the work zone and obey temporary traffic patterns. Travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during project work hours. Miller Contracting Group will endeavor to keep area residences accessible throughout the project.
Work will be performed from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Projected completion date is August 5, 2018.
Bryan Municipal Utilities is hosting a project informational meeting at 7 p.m. this evening, 4/5/18, at the Bryan VFW, 709 South Walnut Street. Residents in the project area are encouraged to attend.
BMU Director of Utilities Kevin Maynard said, “This infrastructure improvement is designed to increase water service reliability and improve fire protection for residents in the project area. The water main and system components that will be installed have estimated service lives of 75 to 100 years. Although we regret that residents may be temporarily inconvenienced during construction, the project should provide years of trouble-free water service once it is complete.”
