The City of Bryan is seeking an experienced candidate for CLERK TREASURER. This position directs and monitors the City’s financial planning, accounting, collection, and custody of funds; controls disbursements; countersigns bonds and notes; certifies contracts and obligations for expenditures; and participates in investment of city funds.

The clerk treasurer’s office administers many aspects of the City of Bryan government.  As an extension of all city services and city departments, the office provides daily operational support to city utilities, city income tax (with RITA), City Council, Board of Public Affairs, and processes cemetery deeds.

For accounts payable/receivable, the office handles purchase order maintenance, invoice processing, checking processing & distribution, and collection/receipting of all city revenues. The office also processes employee payroll; coordinates city employees’ insurance benefit, and workers compensation; and handles new employee orientation.

Completion of post-secondary education in business, finance or accounting and 5-10 years municipal finance experience including work in municipal accounting, budgeting, and purchasing, and the supervision of others or any combination of training and work experience which indicates the position of the skills, knowledge and abilities as listed above.  Candidate must possess strong leadership, financial, organizational and communication skills.
