How to Set Parental Control

To control security and content on the Motorola set top equipment in your home, follow these instructions for setting and using parental controls. You can control several functions, such as Channel to be viewed by Channel number, type of programming, and Guide information. You can also control any Pay Per View purchases made in the set top. Setup Overview

Each set top unit must have the parental control set up separately in order to control content to be viewed. For example, if the set top in the living room is protected, but another set top in the family room or other room is left unprotected, then programming can be viewed or purchased on Pay Per View on the unprotected set top. In order to make the set up process easier, follow the steps listed below. Please note these abbreviations: ST = Set Top unit, PPV = Pay Per View, CH = Channel, PIN = lockout pin code

1. To begin, please review your set top remote control to locate the various buttons that will be used for the setup. Please note that ALL commands will use the remote control unit.





2. Identify the following buttons:
• ON/OFF
• OK – located in center of remote
• MENU – located just to the right and below the OK button
• PAGE UP/DOWN – located just above the OK button in center of remote
• ARROW – UP/DOWN, RIGHT/LEFT located in center of remote
• NUMERAL KEYS
• EXIT – located just above and to the left of the OK button

How to Set the Security PIN

1. Turn Set Top ON
2. Press MENU twice

A. If you see the following screen,



Press PAGE DOWN Arrow

B. If you see the following screen,



Go to Step 3.

3. At the correct screen, please select the “Setup” option.


4. Select “PINS Setup”





5. Enter the default current Locks PIN provided by BMU. [If you forget or misplace your PIN, please call us for assistance: 419-633-6130.]





6. Enter your new LOCKS PIN – number must be 4 characters





7. Enter to CONFIRM NEW PIN





8. You can now Press EXIT to return to the normal screen

How to Set the Parental Controls

1. Press MENU twice

A. If you see the following screen,






Press PAGE UP Arrow

B: If you see the following screen,






Go to Step 2.

2. Select "Parental Controls” and Press OK
3. Enter your PIN





4. In this section you will have several options to set for various levels of parental control
• TV Rating – select different levels of programming to lock out
• Movie Rating
• Channel Locks - Select the desired level and Press OK to lock (a small padlock will appear) To unlock the desired level Press OK to unlock (the small padlock will disappear)
• Master Locks – this is only used to reset ALL locks. Not normally used.
• Adult Titles – in order to lock out these titles from displaying on the Guide, please select “HIDE” and Press OK. To SHOW the titles, repeat the process.

NOTE: It is very important to lock out the Adult Titles to avoid viewing in the Guide information. You can access the PPV menu at any time by entering the PIN when prompted from the Guide menu. If you forget or misplace your PIN number at any time, please contact our office, 419-633-6130, during normal business hours to have it reset to a default number.
