Power Plant

The Power Plant provides standby generation during peak load demand, emergencies and transmission line maintenance. We staff the Power Plant 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Personnel start and place the generators on line when required. Power Plant personnel also work to ensure that all equipment is in generation readiness and good operating condition.

Bryan's electric distribution circuits are monitored from the Power Plant by a computer controlled SCADA system. Any problems or irregularities are immediately brought to the operator's attention and appropriate action is taken.

Substations

We have seven substations: one that transforms 138,000 volts to 69,000 volts and six more that distribute the power on circuits to residents, commercial customers and industries. All of the substations have direct audio communications through the fiber optic system. The system node at the utility office allows our staff to access system information through the network.
