BMU Cable TV keeps getting better

By LOU PENDLETON

Beginning in May, people who take the BMU Digital Basic package will be able to receive the high-definition channels at no additional cost. They only need to rent an HD set-top box and own an HD ready TV set in order to watch all the HD programming.

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs Tuesday night approved the Communications Department request to discontinue the separate $11.95 HD package on the Cable Television Rate Schedule and include the HD programming in the Digital Basic package at no additional programming cost to the customer.

Communications Superintendent Joe Ferrell said, "We are also adding several other HD channels in the next few months including Animal Planet, The Learning Channel, Planet Green, Science Channel and Speed. We are working with the programmers to add even more HD channels to our digital lineup."

BMU Cable recently added ABC, CBS, NBC networks from Toledo and Fort Wayne, PBS from Toledo and FOX from Fort Wayne in HD free to any customer with and HD ready TV set. Ferrell said they are in the process of adding those channels to the digital set-top boxes for digital customers in the next couple of months.

So, if you have an HD TV set, you can watch the NCAA playoffs in HD for free right now and get all the HD channels at no cost in the coming months. Stay tuned!

BMU Basic Cable package costs $12.50 a month, includes free off-air HD from both Toledo and Fort Wayne, and no set top box is required. Extended Basic package costs $45 a month, includes an excellent channel lineup (Speedvision, Discovery Health, ONN, Big Ten, and Outdoor Channel to name a few) and still no set top box is needed. An extra $10 gets you Digital Basic, which includes even more free HD channels and digital music. A set top box is required and costs $7 or $8 per month.

And don't forget BMU TV channels 3 and 4 uniquely offer local programming such as City Council, BPA, and Board of Education meetings; BHS sports; school concerts and shows; City Band concerts, and coverage of the annual Jubilee and other community events.

Toss in superior service 24/7, single utility billing and no contracts and BMU cable becomes the obvious choice. BMU Cable is community owned, with a local office and phone number. Call 419-633-6130 to learn more or Link to Cable TV.
